Regular public discourses on the scriptural texts of India
Swami Chinmayananda introduced the concept of a lecture series called Gyana Yagna with his first public talk in 1951. In Sanskrit Gyana Yagna means "knowledge sacrifice", or the symbolic burning of one's ignorance in the fire of spiritual knowledge.
The Gita ideal revolutionized man’s attitude towards work in all forms by shifting the emphasis from egocentric, selfish motives to selfless divinized activities. He expounded the Bhagavad Gita and Upanishad texts, and also gave general introductory talks on living the spiritual life.
The Chinmaya Seva Centre organizes such lecture series or Gyana Yagnas 2 to 3 times a year on a regular basis for the spiritual knowledge seekers in Singapore. These talks are generally spread over 5 to 7 days and are well attended.
