Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayananda - Head of Chinmaya Mission worldwide - is one of the foremost Jnana - Bhaktas of modern times. He is an outstanding teacher of Vedanta and an accomplished poet, author, and composer. ‘Hinduism Today’ honored Sri Swami Tejomayananda, as Hindu of the Year, 2005, for fulfilling the vision of his guru - Swami Chinmayananda and guiding the Chinmaya Mission's exemplary teaching programs.

Under his leadership and guidance 250 centres of Chinmaya Mission continue to grow in all spheres of its activities - spiritual, cultural, educational and social service programs. Swamiji has conducted over 300 Jnana Yagnas enlightening people with his soul-stirring discourses in English, Hindi and Marathi on all the scriptures ranging from Ramayana, Bhagavatam to the Upanishads. With his sense of humor and humble nature, possessed of great wisdom is and garbed in simplicity he captures the hearts of devotees wherever he goes.

He is very progressive in his thinking and quick in his decision-making. In such a short time, many projects have become a reality under his direction - the Chinmaya International Residential School in Coimbatore, the Chinmaya Centre of World Understanding in New Delhi, The Chinmaya Centre Foundation for research and scholarship in Sanskrit Literature in Cochin, the Chinmaya Heritage Centre in Chennai, the expansion of the Chinmaya Mission Hospital in Bangalore and most recently Chinmaya Vibhooti and Upanishad Ganga.

Swami Tejomayananda has authored several original works in Sanskrit including Bhakti Sudha, Jnana Sarah, Manah Sodhanam and Dhyanaswaroopam. He has written commentaries on many older texts including Kapila Geeta, Yoga Vasishta, Upadesh Sara, Drig Drishya Viveka and Sat Darshanam. He has also translated Swami Chinmayananda’s commentaries on the Bhagavad Geeta and the Upanishads into Hindi.

Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayananda has been coming to Singapore since 1994 and has endeared himself in the hearts of many in this city state with his Gyana yagnas that combine the knowledge of Vedanta with the ideals of Bhakti (devotion). He continues to inspire more and more seekers by being a living example of love and sacrifice.
